Junior Activities & Opportunities
Scholarships
Walker/Phillips Scholarships
The Walker/Phillips Scholarship does not restrict
applicants' fields of study, nor is financial need a
factor. However, an applicant's involvement in the AIJCA
is given a great deal of consideration.
American-International Charolais Foundation
Scholarships
AICF Scholarships are awarded to current members of the
AIJCA on the basis of scholastic excellence in high
school, leadership, citizenship, financial need and
participation in agricultural course or in a related
field of academic endeavor in a bonafied college or
university. Without limitation, examples of qualified
courses shall be Animal Science, Agricultural Business,
Agricultural Education, Agricultural Journalism,
Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Economics.
The number of AICA scholarship recipients and the dollar
amount awarded shall be determined by the scholarship
selection committee each year. Scholarships are paid
from the income derived from the principal fund.
Scholarships are awarded in two stipends: one-half for
the fall semester; and one-half for the spring semester.
To recieve your scholarship, you must maintain an
accumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above on a
4.0 system.
You only need to complete one application. If eligible,
your application will be considered for both programs.
An application can be obtained from the AICA.
Scholarship winners are announced at the annual AIJCA
Junior National Show and Leadership Conference.
National Junior
Merit Program
The American-International Junior Charolais Association
(AIJCA) offers the National Junior Merit Program as an
oppertunity for young Charolais breeders to become
nationally recognized for continued achievement. The
program is an effort to encourage all AIJCA members not
only to strive for excellence, but to report it and be
recognized.
The National Junior Merit Program is based on activities
of an AIJCA member's entire career. There are three main
levels of recognitions- Bronze, Silver and Gold with a
Gold Merit winner selected from the Gold level winners.
AIJCA members are responsible for recording the points
they accumulate.
When an AIJCA member has accumulated the required number
of points, the completed application should be sent to
the AICA Director of Activities. The application will be
submitted to the AICA Junior Council and/or committee of
its members for consideration.
Applications and complete rules for this contest can be
found at the AICA's website.
